Did Dan Golden Resign?
We received this comment from an anonymous source.
So did Dan Golden resign or not? I hereby say that I resign -
get someone else in here as selectperson but then he went
on to the private part of the meeting??? if he goes I hope
I think the paper said he retracted.Probably one of those spur of the moment things when someone hears something they dont like and makes a snap statement in reply."The town is broken" was enough to set him off.Notice that Stewart didnt dare say the same.
I have to say,the selectboard meeting of 12/3/12 had to be the most argumentative meeting in Ashland history.I believe a lot of it had to do with the fact that it was prior public knowledge that selectman were going to discontinue public comments,so this was the last chance that a lot had to vent about various issues.I will not say that the board was 100 percent wrong about everything,as there was blame to be had on part of the taxpayers in audience as well. The wall and drainage issue got out of hand, the talk about icy roadways got personal."The spirit of the town is broken"...yes,and one particular select-person is the reason for that. How that individual ever got over 50 percent of the vote to get re-elected is a mystery.Talk about "working for the people of Ashland" as the campaign claimed, seems its more like "snapping at the people of Ashland when they say something I dont like".People need to remember all of this at election time. You vote these people back in and those who dont get to suffer the most.Dont treat fellow residents like that...vote with your brains.
The paper claims he retracted.I think he said that in the heat of the moment."The spirit of the Town is broken" set him off I guess, taking the complaints personally.Shame it wasnt a certain someone else sitting aside him that would have promised to "quit",and then do it.
We received this comment from Joe Coleman. I agree. His recent support of Mr. Hammer is an excellent example.
I was happy to see in the RECORD ENTERPRISE that Dan Golden has reconsidered and will remain as a selectman. At times he may be a curmudgeon in the same manner the late Andy Rooney was labled a curmudgeon He always cared !Thanks to PVcam Iam able to see the Selectboard conduct the Town's Business Dan stands out as ethical, moral ,a man of integrity. To lose him at this time would leave a great void ,a sinkhole on the board.
